The Matador dining set combines a solid dining table top with six matching chairs to form a complete dining room ensemble. At its heart is a charred oak tabletop – solid wood whose surface is dyed deep black by controlled flaming and subsequent treatment. This brings out the grain in relief, giving the top a striking, smoky black appearance, which is fixed with an oiled finish.
Charred oak is often used as a solitaire in furniture manufacturing because each top develops its own unique grain pattern through the burning process and can be easily combined with understated chairs. The table and chairs here form a coordinated unit of dark wood top and matching set of chairs.
The version shown here includes an oiled tabletop made of charred oak measuring one hundred by two hundred centimeters and six matching chairs as a complete dining room set.
