Caya is a solid wood furniture collection from Hartmann Möbelwerke, a German family business that manufactures exclusively in its own workshop in Beelen, Westphalia. Characteristic of Caya is the core oak in Hartmann's proprietary Umato smoked finish: boards from the heartwood of the trunk are dyed a uniform dark color in a smoking chamber, preserving the typical grain of the core oak with its knots and cracks, giving the finished piece the character of old oak beams. The brushed surfaces are open-pored, making the wood structure tangible.
Caya is designed as a complete living and dining series: sideboards and highboards in various widths, floating lowboards, display cabinets, dining tables, and chairs. The fronts can be ordered either entirely in core oak Umato or with matte glass applications in anthracite or white, combined with integrated end-grain wood slices as a design accent. Soft-close hinges and LED interior lighting are available for most units.
